The International Advisory Board is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for the Sixth World Universities Forum (WUF) and the Call for Submissions to the peer-reviewed Journal of the World Universities Forum.
SIXTH WORLD UNIVERSITIES FORUM
University of British Columbia – Robson Square
10-11 January, 2013
Now in its sixth year, the WUF seeks to explore the meaning and purpose of the academy in times of striking social transformation. The conference, journal, and book series bring together university administrators, teachers and researchers to discuss the prospects of the academy and to exemplify or imagine ways in which the university can take a leading and constructive role in the transformations of our times.
As in previous years, the 2013 World Universities Forum will feature sessions on a breadth of topics relevant to the university and its possibilities. Proposals for paper presentations, workshops, round tables or colloquia are invited, addressing design through one of the following themes:
* Theme 1: Teaching and Learning
* Theme 2: Research and Knowledge Formation
* Theme 3: University Administration
* Theme 4: The University and the Community
In addition, this year’s WUF will also include a special plenary focus: “Democracy and Higher Education.”
The FINAL DEADLINE for proposal submissions is 1 November 2012. Proposals must be submitted by this date to qualify for the conference registration. Conference registration must be completed and paid by 10 December 2012 to be scheduled in the conference program. For full details on proposal submission and conference registration deadlines, please visit the conference website at: http://ontheuniversity.com/conference-2013/call-for-papers/.
Presenters may also choose to submit written papers for publication in the fully refereed Journal of the World Universities Forum. If you are unable to attend the conference in person, virtual registrations also include submission to the journal for refereeing and possible publication, as well as access to the journal.
We look forward to receiving your proposal and hope you will be able to join us in Vancouver in January!
